Graduated in 2006 from theDance Academy Arnhem/ArtEZ Hogeschool voor de Kunsten (NL) – BA in Dance, specialization danceperformer. Since then has been working for Italian/ Dutch based choreographer Gabriella Maiorino and Dansmakers Amsterdam, dancing the pieces Cruel for Breaking Walls Festival in Frascati Theatre in Amsterdam, ZOO with an extensive Dutch tour and performances abroad including in Kunstlerhaus Mousonturm (Frankfurt), Dansens Hus Oslo, Festival Punto Aparte (Murcia), etc. and Kunikuli (Trilogia del Desiderio) still being performed through out The Netherlands.
She worked as assistant to the choreographer for the piece love_about created for the ArtEZ Dansacademie and as rehearsal director for the most recent creation IOVIODIO, teaching as well workshops around the contents of the pieces in Dansateliers Rotterdam, Arnhem Dansacademie, the Art Laboratory Amsterdam, etc.
In the “spare” time, she works as production/ tour manager as well.
Besides Gabriella, Cristina has worked with Vloeistof Dance Company in Tilburg for Je bent al bijna dood, for Eva Baumann’s solo Fragile, among others.
In 2008, she got the 3rd choreographic prize for her solo Skinned in Estonia, given by Wim Vandekeybus and Teet Kask. Her own creations Tripswitch (2007), Skinned (2008) and IMNY #1 (2009) have been performed in AICC 08, DK with the support of the Dutch Embassy in Copenhagen, ArtEZ, Bailalouca Rotterdam, ITS festival Amsterdam, Festival de Dança de Almada (PT), Gast in Zutphen, Kale Companhia de Dança (PT), Korzo Theatre, Scouwburg Odeon/deSpiegel in Zwolle, Muiderpoort Theater Amsterdam, etc.
Most recently she was awarded the DanceWEB Scholarship Program 2009: a 5-week residency program within the frame of Impulstanz Festival 09, Vienna (AT), mentored by Philipp Gehmacher and Christine de Smedt. Worked intensively with: Maguy Marin, Philipp Gehmacher, Chrysa Parkinson & Martin Kilvády, Davis Freeman, Sri Louise, Damien Jalet and Rasmus Olme.
She is one of the initiators of the research and artist’s toolbox project INCONSUMIVEL.
Since 2009 is a regular guest teacher at Professional School Ginasiano Escola de Dança (PT) and at the Art Laboratory in Amsterdam.
Recently in early 2010, she took part of the project “50 days in Costa Rica” with David Zambrano, now mastering the techniques of Flying Low and Passing Through, being able to teach, use and reform them (supported by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation – PT). Performances in CENAC and Teatro Nazional de la Danza, S. José (CR)
